Cheesy Scones Adrienne


  • 1 3/4 cup flour

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 2 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 3/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 4 oz cold butter cut in 1/4" cubes

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, ice cold

  • 2 cups grated aged cheddar

  • 1 egg beaten for the wash

Preheat oven to 500 F

Combine dry ingredients with butter by rubbing in until well distributed. Add buttermilk and stir until it just comes together.

Press the dough into a rectangle 3/4" thick sprinkle cheese on 1/3 of the dough fold in 3rds press out repeat. Twice more to use all cheese 3 folds total. Roll out to 1/2" cut rounds . brush the tops with the egg wash.

Place in oven & reduce heat to 450 degrees bake 8mins rotate bake 5-6mins more or golden brown.
